This topic explains how to set up APM to receive indicator readings and calculations from the 4D Analytics components.

Note: This topic does not cover setting up the source server, 4D Analytics, InfluxDB, or GraphQL. For more information, contact your Bentley team.

Setup Steps

Setting up APM for 4D Analytics requires the following steps:

1.	Turn on the product feature in the APM Enterprise window. See Enabling the Product Feature.

2.	Define settings so that APM can connect to 4D Analytics. See Creating 4D Analytics Connections.

3.

Set up the GraphQL service provider. GraphQL receives calls from 4D Analytics to create alarm readings in APM. It also provides 4D Analytics with information on indicator alarm states. Set up a server instance dedicated to GraphQL as well as a service provider interface with the application server. See Setting up the GraphQL Service Provider.

4.	Define site settings. For each site that will use 4D indicators, identify the 4D Analytics ID and the connection. See Setting Site Properties.

5.	Set up scheduled actions to process 4D calculations on a regular basis. You will need one scheduled action for each site that uses 4D indicators. See Setting up Scheduled Actions to Execute 4D Calculations.

Tip: Advanced users can also run the calculation processing engine manually from the command line. for testing purposes. See Command Line Options for the Calculation Engine.

6.	Create or modify indicator types to support 4D Analytics. See Modifying Indicator Types.

Set up logging categories for 4D calculated indicators. Because of the volume of data generated by 4D calculated indicators, it is not possible to display the calculation and inputs in the Indicator Reading window, Calculation tab. However, a wealth of information can be made available in the log files. See Setting up Logging for 4D Calculated Indicators.

When these steps have been completed, you can create 4D indicators, as explained in Creating 4D Calculated Indicators.
