Tasks Involved in Asset Health Monitoring Setting up APM for Asset Health Monitoring Asset Health Glossary Asset health monitoring is a management process that focuses on the health of organizational assets. Asset health indexes (AHI) identify assets that are failing and/or due for replacement based on specific user-defined criteria. Asset health indexes automate the process of identifying assets at risk, and in return, save money and allow for forecasting of future asset replacement. Note: Asset health indexes can include complicated calculations and thousands of assets, therefore it is recommended that a 64-bit server be used to generate the indexes. The AHI process includes the following stages: • Establish requirements in the context of existing regulations, inspection standards, and best practices. • Identify the assets that require asset health monitoring. • Develop the selection criteria based on user-defined calculations, and create report definitions to automate the procedure. • Determine the frequency of analysis. Reports can be generated at specified intervals or on an ad hoc basis. • Review the asset health index reports. You can use APM’s asset health tools to perform analyses. For example, you can filter appropriate assets based on calculations and weighting factors, and use the results to determine and identify which assets are in need of replacement.
