Before posting adjustment transactions, APM verifies that there is at least one unit with a status of “Spare,” “Returned,” “Awaiting Re-stock,” or “Decommissioned.” If no units exist with one of these statuses, an error message appears and you cannot post the transaction. Deleting a unit is not the same as decommissioning a unit.You might delete a unit when you first set up a serialized resource and need to adjust your inventory balances. When you delete a unit of a serialized resource, a record of the unit is kept for historical purposes.
