Concepts Tasks Settings Matching an Asset’s Status to the Unit Status After you have set up a serialized resource you might find an asset that was not included in your inventory balances. You can create an adjustment transaction and add the found unit to inventory. Before you can link the asset to the new serialized unit, the statuses must match. The asset’s status must be an asset status that is set up to match an inventory unit status. To Match a Found Asset’s Status to a Unit Status 1. Adjust your inventory balance for the resource. For more information on adding serialized units, see Adding Serialized Units. 2. If the found asset’s status matches the inventory status “Spare”, you can link the unit and the asset. For more information, see Linking Assets to Serialized Units From the Asset. 3. If the found asset’s status is set to “Working” or “Repair on site”: • Issue the unit. • Charge the issue transaction to the Holding account for serialized units.” Units not linked to assets can only be issued to the “Working’ or “Repair on site” statuses. For more information on issuing serialized resources, see Issuing Serialized Units. 4. For repairable spares (not tools), if the found component is “Awaiting installation” or “Awaiting repair action”, you will need to change the asset’s status in order to link it to the unit. For more information on changing an asset’s status, see Changing an Asset's Status. 5. Link the asset to the resource and unit. For more information, see Linking Assets to Serialized Units From the Asset.
