Concepts Tasks Settings Getting Ready to Convert Tool Assets and Resources to Serialized Inventory There are several things you need to do before you convert existing tool assets and resources to serialized inventory. • Check the quantity of the tool assets physically in your enterprise. This includes all assets wherever they are, and whether or not they are in operation — tools that are in use or in inventory. • Check the status of the tool assets. The asset statuses must match the unit statuses that have been set up for serialized inventory. For example, if you have an asset status “Broken” but you have not matched that asset status to a unit status, the conversion for that asset will not work. For more information see Setting up Serialized Unit Statuses for Tools. • Make sure the inventory balances are correct in APM for all warehouse items in all warehouses. After you do your physical check of the quantity of assets you have, the balances you have recorded in your warehouse(s) in APM must be correct. • Adjust your inventory balances in APM, if necessary. For more information see Adjusting Inventory Balances for Non-serialized Resources. • Link the assets to non-serialized resources. For more information, please see Linking Multiple Assets to Non-serialized Resources. When you are ready, you can convert the resource to support serialized inventory, and then convert the warehouse balances to serialized units. For more information see Creating Serialized Inventory Units for Resources.
