Tool Bar Buttons, Shortcuts, and Menu Options

The following table describes the common tool bar buttons. Equivalent menu commands and shortcuts are also shown. This example shows the tool bar in the Asset window:

Tip: When you hover your mouse pointer over a tool bar button or menu option, APM also displays a tool tip for the menu command, for example:

Icon	Name	Click this button to...	Menu, Shortcut
	Go up one level	Open the window directly above the current one. For example, if you are looking at an asset window, click Up One Level to open the Site window. If the Site window is currently displayed, click this button to open the Enterprise window.	Alt + ↑
	Allow Editing	Check out or lock the object so that you can edit it.	Object menu, Allow Editing Ctrl + e
	Save	Save any changes you have made.	Object menu, Save Ctrl + s
	Refresh (F5)	Redraw the current window or view and update the displayed data. You can also press F5 to refresh the window.	View menu, Refresh F5
	New	Create an object.	Object menu, Create, New
	Create Shortcut	Place a shortcut to this object on the desktop or in a folder. You can also drag an icon to the desktop to create a shortcut.	Object menu, Create, Shortcut
	Send	Send a shortcut to this object in an email to another APM user. For more information, see Emailing Shortcuts.	Object menu, Send To
	Favorite	Add this object to your list of favorites. For more information, see Creating a Favorite.	Tools menu, Add to Favorites
	Cut	Cut the selected text.	Edit menu, Cut Ctrl + x
	Copy text or object	Copy the selected text. For some objects, a Copy button is available to copy the current object. Note: You can also copy some objects by right-clicking the object in a table and clicking the appropriate copy command.	Edit menu, Copy Object menu, Create, Copy Ctrl + c
	Paste	Paste the currently cut or copied text.	Edit menu, Paste Ctrl + v

Hiding the Menu Bar

The Menu bar can be hidden or displayed according to your preference.

•	To hide the menu bar, select Options, Menu Bar.

•	To use a menu item, press Alt. The menu bar displays so that an item can be selected, after which it will be hidden again.

•	To permanently display the menu bar if it is hidden, press Alt and select the Options menu and then Menu Bar.
