Technical Details

This topic provides information about how APM transfers data from the wrong asset to the correct asset during a hierarchy correction.

Asset Installation History

For a component swap that was not recorded, the existing asset installation history records for the asset(s) being uninstalled are closed off. New installation history records are created for the asset(s) being installed.
For an incorrect component swap, the asset installation history records that were created for the wrong component are changed to reference the correct component. The indicator accumulator instance referenced by the asset installation history record is changed to reflect an accumulator for the correct asset.

Asset Lives

If a new asset life was created for any of the asset status changes that need to be undone, the new asset life is also undone. The existing “undo last component life” method on the asset is used to undo the asset life.

Indicator Readings

Any indicator readings recorded against the component to be uninstalled or any of its descendents during the error time frame are corrected. Indicator readings that are calculated based on other readings will not be corrected.
The table below lists the type of indicator, the readings that are affected, and how they are corrected.

Work Requests

For a component swap that was not recorded, any work requests created during the error time frame for the component that was uninstalled or any of its descendents will be updated with the correct component.
For an incorrect component swap, the work requests do not need to be corrected because they reference the location and whatever component is installed in that location. Once the correct component is recorded as installed in APM, existing work requests will automatically reference the new component.

Work Order Tasks

For a component swap that was not recorded, work order tasks that list the component to be uninstalled or any of its descendents as the asset to work on or the asset to charge will be updated. Any work order tasks created or closed during the error time frame are corrected as follows:
For an incorrect component swap, work order tasks that list the component location or its descendent locations as the asset to charge have to be updated. Any work order tasks created or closed during the error time frame are corrected as follows:
