Setting Map Coordinates

When you include map coordinates on an object such as asset, site, indicator reading, work request, and so on, the object can then be displayed on a table configuration that is viewed as a map.

If you know the longitude and latitude coordinates of the object, you can enter them in the object’s properties. Alternatively, you can browse to display a geographical map and manually point to the location to have APM assign the coordinates.

This topic describes how to point to a location on a map and have the system determine the object’s map coordinates.

To Set Map Coordinates

1.	Open the object for which you want to set map coordinates. For example, you can open an asset’s Properties view, General tab, Location tab:

2.	In the Map coordinates box, click the browse icon. A map appears. For example:

3.	Pan and zoom the map to locate the physical location of the object. For more information about navigating maps, see Viewing Map Information.

4.	Select the Set Locations Mode icon (), and click the location on the map where the object resides. A gray dot appears on the map and its longitude and latitude coordinates appear on the bottom right corner of the map. For example:

5.	Select a different location or click OK to accept your selection.

6.	The map closes and the coordinates are populated with the appropriate values.
