Setting Mobile Computing Options on a Task Template

You can set bar code scanning options on task templates. The setting is copied to standard tasks created from the template and then to checksheets. When the checksheets are downloaded to APM Mobile Inspections, bar code scanning can be performed.

Note: Bar code scanning based on standard tasks is available for technology preview. You must first enable feature 128 to use the functionality in APM. In the Enterprise window, select the Features view and the Enabled Features tab. Click Browse, select “Enforce indicator bar code scanning based on the standard task” and click OK. If APM is running as a smart client, click Refresh Enabled Features on the server. Then restart the client to use the functionality.

The work type determines if the Inspection tab is available in the Standard Task window.

To Set Mobile Computing Options

1.	Open the Standard Task window for the template.

2.	Make sure that editing is enabled.

3.	On the Properties view, select the Inspection tab and then the Mobile Computing tab.

4.	Set the Indicator bar code scanning option:

Indicates if bar code scanning is required when the inspection is performed. The options are: • Use site setting – The site setting is located in the site’s Inspection Management settings. Select the Indicators, Data Collection, and iOS or Android Devices tabs. The setting Enforce route compliance using barcode scanning can be toggled on or off for the site. • Bar code scan is required – Bar code scans must be performed on indicators for this standard task • Bar code scan is not required – The standard task does not support bar code scanning

5.	Save and close the task template.
