Using the Schedule Template Hierarchy

You can organize a set of schedule templates as a hierarchy. The hierarchy structure allows you to quickly see how the schedule templates are related to each other. When you use a set of schedule templates to create a set of schedules, the new schedules will also be organized in a hierarchy.
For example, using a set of schedule templates you can create a weekly schedule, 7 daily schedules, and 21 or more shift schedules in one step. Below is a diagram of a typical set of schedule templates in a hierarchy.

Note: The My Desk view only displays the tabs described below, if you are set up as a scheduler on the Properties view, Roles tab, Scheduling tab of the employee record.

To Add an Existing Schedule Template to a Hierarchy

From the Site window, select the Work Management view and then the Schedules tab.

Select the Templates tab. This tab shows your existing schedule templates.

Tip: You can click the plus signs to drill down expand the hierarchy and view more templates.

Right-click the parent template and select Insert existing child. The Maintenance Schedule Template Selector dialog appears.
Tip: You can filter and sort the list in the dialog, to quickly find the schedule template that you need.

Select the schedule template that you want to insert into the hierarchy, and then click OK. APM inserts the selected template, and any child templates it has, at the selected spot in the hierarchy.

To Add a New Schedule Template to a Hierarchy

From the Site window, select the Work Management view and then the Schedules tab.

Select the Templates tab. This tab lists your existing schedule templates.

On the Properties view, select the Hierarchy tab.

To create a child schedule template, right-click the parent template in the hierarchy, and then select New child. APM creates and opens a new template and inserts it under the parent template in the hierarchy. The parent template settings are transferred from to the new template.
To create a peer schedule template, right-click a template in the hierarchy, and then select New peer. APM creates and opens a new template and inserts it at the same level in the hierarchy. Settings are transferred from the original template to the new peer template.

To Move Schedule Templates in a Hierarchy

Select the Templates tab. This tab shows your existing schedule templates.

On the Properties view, Hierarchy tab, drag and drop the template to the new position in the hierarchy. APM moves the template and its children below the new parent template in the hierarchy.
