Setting Availability on a Template

This topic explains how to enter availability for trades, contractors, services, tools, and rental equipment on a schedule template.
If you are not tracking employee availability on your schedules, you can still track the availability of each trade. To do this, you will need to enter the total availability of each trade on each schedule. If you enter trade availability on your templates, APM will use these entries as the default settings on new schedules. You can enter trade availability when you create the template or at any time later on.
You can also enter availability for job contractors, services, tools, and rental equipment.
To set or change the availability on a schedule template, first create or open the template, and then create an availability entry for each resource.

To Set Availability on a Template

On the Properties view, select the Availability tab. If there are availability entries already existing on the template, they are listed in the table on this tab.

If you are entering trade availability, select the option Use the trade availability entered here. You will also be able to enter availability for other time-based resources.
Note: You can enter availability for tools, job contractors, services, and rental equipment using any of the first three availability options. If you choose the option Sum the availability from the schedule’s child schedules, you will not be able to enter any availability manually on the template.

Click the down-arrow beside the New button, and select the appropriate option. The Schedule Template Availability dialog appears. The availability that you enter here is defaulted to each schedule created from the template.

In the Number box, enter the total number of employees, service people, contractors, tools, or pieces of equipment that are available for this set of schedules.

In the Availability box, enter the total number of hours available for this resource for this schedule. For example, if you have 4 employees with 40 hours available each on a weekly schedule, you would enter 160 hours.

Type any notes in the Comments box, and then click OK.

Repeat steps 5 to 9 for each resource with availability for the schedule.

When you are finished, Save and Close the Schedule Template window.
