Adding Labor Rates To Trades

This section explains how to add a labor rate to an existing trade. Each trade can have multiple labor rates. Labor rates can be different at each site.
Labor rate types are defined in the currency of the sites where they are created. If a rate is retrieved from a higher site that uses a different currency, the rate is converted to the currency of the site where it is used.

To Add Labor Rates to a Trade

Select the site’s Personnel view, Trades tab. By default, this tab shows a list of all of the trades available for the site and below.

Double-click to open the trade for which you need to add a labor rate. The Resource window appears.

Select the Properties view, Trade Details tab.

Make sure that editing is enabled.

To add an hourly labor rate for the trade, select the Rates tab, and click New. The Labor Rate dialog appears.

Enter the labor rate settings:

Site
The site at which this labor rate is valid. Each trade may have different labor rates (using the same labor rate type) at each site.
Only the site at which the trade is owned, and the site’s children will be available in the list. For example, if the trade is owned at your top site, all sites will be available for selection.
Labor rate type
The labor rate type for this rate. You can choose from the labor rate types defined for your organization. For example, you might have labor rate types called “Regular time” and “Overtime”.
If this box is left blank, an error message appears.
Hourly rate
The hourly rate for this trade and labor rate type. Labor rates are always expressed in hours, and use the site’s default currency.
If this box is left blank, an error message appears.

Click OK. The new rate is added to the list.

Repeat steps 1 to 3 for each labor rate that you need to add.

Select the default rate that will be used for this trade when calculating work-related costs (for example, “Regular time”). If you have not added any rate types for the trade, no selections will be available in this list.

When you are finished, save the resource and close the Resource window.
