Creating a Unit to Be Repaired

If you are tracking repairable spares with serialized units that are not linked to assets, you may have some units that are not yet tracked in APM. For example, if you had units that were ‘working’ at the time you created your serialized resource in APM, these units were not in inventory and thus were not created when you set up the resource.
If one of your ‘working’ units now fails, you can track the repair of the unit by ‘creating a unit for repair’. This method creates a unit with the status ‘Awaiting repair action’ that can then be sent to the repair shop.
When the unit has been repaired, you can re-stock it in inventory and it will then be tracked as usual.
You can also use this method to create a unit for a serialized resource that is linked to assets. After you create the unit, you can link it to the appropriate asset.

To Create a Unit to be Repaired

1.
In the Site window, select the Resource Management view and then the Inventory tab.
2.
On the Warehouses tab, select the warehouse in which the resource is stocked. The list of stocked resources is shown in the table on the right.
3.
4.
On the Warehouse Item view, select the Units tab. This tab lists all of the units that are currently tracked.
5.
If the unit you are repairing is not listed, you can create it now. From the Tools menu select Create Unit For Repair. A new unit is listed on the tab with the status ‘Awaiting Repair Action’.
