Renumbering RCM2 Analysis Objects

Assets and failure modes are automatically assigned sequential numbers when they are added to an analysis. Assets are given sequence numbers, while failure modes are uniquely identified by function, functional failure, and failure mode sequence numbers or letters. For example, this Maintenance Action Plan window shows that this is the fourth failure mode for function 2 and functional failure A:
Tip: You can view asset sequence numbers in the Strategy Development Analysis window, Properties view, Assets tab. You can see the function, functional failure, and failure mode sequence in several locations, for example Facilitation view, Decision Worksheet tab.
Note: RCM2 templates reference an asset type, rather than particular assets. Consequently, you can renumber failure modes, functions, and functional failures in an RCM2 template.
As the analysis is developed, you might need to delete assets or failure modes, leaving gaps in the sequence.
This topic explains how to quickly renumber assets, failure modes, functions, functional failures, or a combination in an analysis.
