Recording Benefits Achieved

When creating a project, you can enter targeted benefits and justifications for it. As a post-project activity to follow up with the documented targeted benefits, record the actual benefits achieved. Comparing the targets with actual benefits helps to determine the success of the project.

To Record Benefits Achieved

1.
In the Project window, select the Benefits Achieved view.
2.
Make sure that editing is enabled.
3.
Click New to enter a benefit achieved. The Benefits Achieved dialog appears.
4.
Enter or select the appropriate information:
Setting Name
Description
Recorded by:
The name of the employee who recorded the benefit achieved.
Monitor date:
The date that the benefit achieved was recorded.
Improvements Achieved:
Short description of the benefit achieved.
Summarize project status:
A summary that describes the project status at the time the benefit was realized.

Click OK to save the benefit or continue and record an area for improvement that is linked to criticality.

To Record a Benefit in an Area for Improvement

During the planning of your project you might have named a targeted Area for Improvement. Areas of improvement are tied to criticality criteria, and the area for improvement must be defined for that criteria.
1.
On the Benefits Achieved dialog, select the Areas of Improvement tab.
2.
Click New. The Project Benefit dialog appears.
3.
Enter or select the appropriate information:
Setting Name
Description
Criteria
The previously defined criticality criteria for which the improvement was achieved.
Area
The previously defined area for which the improvement was achieved.
Quantity
A measure of the improvement quantity that is associated with a unit of measure available in APM.
Savings
The savings outcome that is achieved through this improvement. This outcome could be monetary improvement, production increase, lives saved, etc.
Benefits achieved per
The time period of the savings achieved through this improvement.
Benefits description
A text box that can be used to provide a description of the benefits that were achieved.
4.
Click OK.
5.
Repeat to add any remaining benefits.
