Concepts Tasks Previewing a Security Profile When you are editing a security profile in Security Setup mode, you can preview the changes that you have made by entering Preview Mode. In Preview Mode, the system looks and acts as it would for a user that has been assigned the active profile. Note: Running in Preview mode does not apply to security profiles themselves. That is, if you open a security profile you will see the complete profile, regardless of your security settings for the Security Profile class. Preview Mode and Site Profiles You can use the Preview mode to test individual profiles as you work on them. However, if you are setting up multi-site profiles, you must test your settings by logging in as a user with the default, home, top, and other site profiles set up. This is because the Preview mode only shows the effect of one profile at a time. If you are using different profiles for different sites, you might have different results than the Preview mode would indicate. For more information, see Strategies for Testing Security Profiles and Settings. To Enter Preview Mode 1. In the Security Profile window, click Preview. The system redraws all open windows to reflect the user interface as it would appear to a user working under the active profile. The cursor shows a yellow triangular icon, to indicate that Preview Mode is active: 2. You can now navigate through the system and check that it behaves as you intended. To Return to Security Setup Mode 1. In the Security Profile window, click Design Mode. The system redraws all open windows to reflect the user interface under your own security profile. If you are in security setup mode, the cursor returns to the open lock icon. 2. You can now continue to edit the security profile.
