Concepts Tasks Reference Methods You can choose from the many methods in APM when you customize the user interface (using the Methods tab of the Toolbox in the Forms Editor) and when you customize menus and toolbars. Note that not all methods will work from all views and classes. The following is a partial list of available methods. Name Description About Displays the About dialog Add New View Adds a new custom view starting from a blank page in the Forms Editor Allow Editing Locks the open object so you can make changes to it Bookmark Allows you to add to or open existing bookmarks, or to remove a bookmark Browsing Options... Allows you to specify whether you want new views to open in the same window (replacing the current view) or in separate windows (resulting in more than one view open) Check In Saves an object and releases any locks Close Closes the current window Copy Copies the selected text to the clipboard Copy View Adds a new custom view starting from the view currently open Create New Creates an object of the same type as this one. For example, if this button is on a view on the Asset class, it will create a new asset. Create Shortcut Creates a shortcut to the open object and lets you save it to the desktop or a folder Cut Cuts the selected text to the clipboard Delete Deletes the open object. For example, if you put this button on a view for the Asset class, it will delete the asset that is open. Edit Selected Row In-Place Edits the selected row in a table. This method is equivalent to pressing the F2 key Edit View Edits the current view Go Up One Level Opens the object that contains this level. For example, if you select this button from a view on Asset or Work Order, the Site class will open Help Displays the context-sensitive Help and opens the APM Help library Logoff Exits all windows and logs off the database Open Opens a selector dialog where you can choose an object to open. For example, if you select this button from a view on Asset, you can choose a specific asset to open from the Asset Selector dialog Print Opens a Print menu where you can choose an existing report to print, or create a custom report Refresh Refreshes the window with the most recent version of this object. This method is the equivalent to pressing the F5 key. Save Saves any changes you have made Send Sends a shortcut to the object to another user by email Show or Hide Banner Displays or hides the banner Show or Hide Toolbars Displays or hides tool bars Views to Hide or Show Allows you to determine which of this object’s views you want to have access to Work With... Allows you to work with the object’s settings or value lists
