Setting up Safety Risk Levels

Risk analysis of a SIF or HAZOP failure mode results in a risk level score. This numeric value, usually on an ascending scale between 0 and 4, is a measure of the amount of risk inherent in the failure. Safety provisions can then be assigned to the failure mode. Each provision’s safety integrity level (SIL) value can be used to calculate a reduction in risk.
