Setting up Gas Emergency Event Types

Emergency event types identify events in which gas is released into the atmosphere. Event types can specify that a gas transaction of the selected type be created when the emergency event is entered. This topic explains how to create emergency event types in APM.

To Set up a Gas Emergency Event Type

1.	In the Site window, select the Regulated Gas Management view and the Settings tab. Select the Regulated Gas Management Settings node in the tree.

Tip: You can also select the Administration menu and then Regulated Gas Management Settings. The Regulated Gas Management Settings dialog appears.

2.	Select the Emergency Events tab. This tab shows the emergency event types defined for the enterprise.

3.	Click New. The Gas Emergency Event Type Properties dialog appears:

4.	Provide the following information:

Setting Name

Description

Emergency event type

Name for the type, for example, “Earthquake”.

Abbreviation

Short form for the identifier, which appears in some locations.

Site	Site where this emergency event type is available. If a site is not identified, the event type is available throughout the enterprise.

5.	To represent the emergency event type with a different icon in tables, click Change Icon, select another image, and click OK.

6.	You can have APM create a gas transaction whenever events of this type are recorded. Select Create a gas transaction and select the transaction type.

7.	Select the Description tab to add more information.

8.	Click OK. The dialog closes and the emergency event type is added to the tab.
