Setting Up Work Weeks

In many organizations, employees can easily associate a week number with a specific calendar week. For example, when a planner sees that a work order is scheduled for Week 29, he or she can quickly translate this to the corresponding date, the week of July 15. You can enter work weeks into APM for use in scheduling.
The week number can be used in the title of schedules created from a template. It is included in a schedule template’s list of choices for schedule title. When week number is selected, APM will determine the week number based on the schedule's start date, and insert the name of the work week into the schedule's title.
When you set up work weeks, a complete set of weeks is created for each year. Each year typically contains either 52 or 53 weeks. All of your work weeks will start on the same day of the week as the date that you enter as the first week of the year.
The dates of two work years cannot overlap. A following year's starting date is prompted by APM as the day following the last day of the last work week in the previous year.
For example, if you enter the first week of the work year as starting on Monday, January 1:

From the Site window, select the Administration menu and then Work Management Settings. The Work Management Settings dialog appears. Select the Schedules tab.
Tip: You can also select the Work Management view on the site window. Select the Settings tab and then the Scheduling tab. Click the Scheduling settings node in the tree.

To define the weeks for a year, click New. The Maintenance Work Year dialog appears.

You can manually add weeks to a year, or you can click Generate Weeks and APM will generate the year’s weeks for you. A generic name of Week 1, Week 2, and so on, is assigned to each week. If necessary, you can change the name by opening each week.
Note: After the weeks have been generated, or if you manually create one or more weeks, the Generate Weeks button is disabled. If you need to rerun the generation, you must first delete the year’s weeks. The Generate Weeks button is enabled again.
