Setting up Modification Types

Modification types are defined in APM for use in strategy development analyses. When an action plan’s recommended strategy is to redesign or modify the asset, you can specify the type of modification required. Examples of typical modification types are physical modifications, maintenance procedures, operational procedures, and training modifications.

To Set up a Modification Type

1.	On the site’s Strategy Development view, select the Settings tab. Select the Failure Modes tab and the Failure mode settings node in the tree.

Tip: You can also select the site’s Administration menu, Strategy Development Settings, and then Failure Modes. The Failure Mode Management Settings dialog appears.

2.	Select the Modification Types tab. This tab lists all of the modification types that have been defined for the enterprise.

3.	Click New. The Modification Type dialog appears.

4.	Provide a name for the modification type.

5.	If you want to change the icon for the modification type, click Change Icon and select an icon.
