Setting Failure Mode Filtering Options

In failure mode settings, you can set the policy for filtering lists of failure modes and templates. By default, when you are browsing for a failure mode to add to an indicator state, work request, or failure record, the Failure Mode Selector dialog displays failure modes for assets in the same branch of the hierarchy as the current asset. Filtering options provide alternatives to the default behavior.

To Set the Failure Mode Filtering Option

1.	On the site’s Strategy Development view, select the Settings tab. Select the Failure Modes tab and the Failure mode settings node in the tree.

Tip: You can also select the site’s Administration menu, Strategy Development Settings, and then Failure Modes. The Failure Mode Management Settings dialog appears.

2.	Select the Filters tab.

3.	Click Edit to modify the site settings. The Edit button is replaced by the Save button.

Select the appropriate option for showing failure modes in lists. Failure modes can be shown for: • All assets on the site • The current asset only – for example, when you are browsing from a work request, failure modes for the work request’s asset are shown • The current asset and assets below – failure modes for the work request’s asset and its descendants in the asset hierarchy are shown • The current asset and above – failure modes for the work request’s asset and its ancestors in the asset hierarchy are shown • Assets in the same branch of the hierarchy as the current asset – failure modes for the work request’s asset and others in the same branch are shown

5.	Select the failure mode template policy for this site:

Select the appropriate option for showing failure mode templates in lists: • Failure mode templates cannot be used • Same asset type as the current asset • All asset types

6.	Click Save.
