Creating Regular Filter Criteria

You can use filters to create a subset of a group of items for a table configuration, a calculation input in an indicator, a purging rule, or a download configuration for a remote computer. Each filter can be composed of multiple criteria. For each filtering criterion, consider the following:
The application of Boolean logic differs for table configurations and indicator calculation inputs, and purging rules and download configurations. Data type behavior is the same for all filters.
This topic describes how to create regular filter criteria for an existing calculation input. For detailed information about creating filter-based calculation inputs, see Creating Calculation Inputs Based on Filters. To learn about boolean logic for filter criteria, see Filter Criteria Concepts.
Note: In order to create filter-based calculation inputs, you should have some familiarity with the APM object model. To learn more about the object model, please see Object Model Overview.

To Create a Filter-Based Calculation Input

1.
2.
To add a filter criteria, in the New list, click Regular Filter. The Filter Criterion dialog appears.
3.
If the attribute is owned by a related object (class), you will first need to identify the class in the Join Path box. Click in the Join path box. The Select Join Path dialog appears. Select the class in the hierarchy that owns the attribute you want to filter on and click OK. For example, to pick an attribute from the Asset to Charge on a Work Order Task, open the Work Order Task class and select Asset to Charge. The attributes for the selected class now appear in the Attribute list.
