Term Definition Contaminant Foreign substance found in fluid samples, for example, water in hydraulic oil. Data loader APM data loading simplifies the process of populating an APM database with records from another system. The Fluid Sample Results data loader is used to import indicator readings into the fluid condition checksheet. Fluid analysis lab Fluid analysis labs defined in APM identify the facilities where samples are sent. The lab tests the samples, typically using specialized analysis hardware and software. Fluid condition checksheet APM generates a fluid condition checksheet for each processed sample. Its purpose is to record lab test results, which can then be evaluated to determine fluid condition values. Fluid sample In APM, a fluid sample is an indicator reading that identifies the asset from which the fluid was taken, as well as the bottle and syringe containing the sample. Fluid type Fluid types typically identify a coolant or insulator used by assets that support sampling and fluid condition tracking. Gas standard Gas standards that are recorded in APM are referenced in specifications for assets and fluid samples. An example is the U.S. Geological Survey standards for natural gas. Lab fluid sample A lab sample is an APM object that is generated when a sample indicator reading or checksheet is processed. It records information about the sample and the lab tests to be performed on it. Oil preservation system An oil preservation system is essential for a liquid-immersed transformer to allow expansion and contraction of the liquid due to temperature changes without exposing the insulating liquid to external contamination. Examples of systems are conservator, sealed tank, and gas-oil seal. Rate of change The difference between a reading value and its previous reading. Rate of change can be based on values, percentages, or daily rate of change.
