Viewing the Indicators and Readings that Track a Failure

From the failure record, you can view and compare indicator readings related to a failure. For example, if a failure occurs on a pump, you might wish to track the pump’s pressure readings recorded over time. The failure record contains readings taken before the failure occurred, readings taken after the failure is resolved, and all of the readings taken while the failure is open. You can view individual readings and a chart of the readings over time.
This topic explains how to view the indicators that track the failure, the indicator readings, and the “before” and “after” readings. A failure’s “before” reading is taken prior to the failure’s occurrence. The “after” reading is the first reading taken after the failure is resolved.

To View Indicators That Track the Failure

1.
2.
Select the Indicators tab.
This tab lists the indicators that were copied to the record from its failure mode or that were added to the failure record. Additional tabs are displayed if an indicator monitors its asset’s operating parameters or barriers. For example, the Operating Parameters tab displays the indicator name and the parameters being monitored.

To View Indicator Readings

1.
2.
Select the Readings tab.
3.
4.
Note: The start and end dates for the snapshot of readings is determined by the failure settings for charting indicator readings. For more information, see Setting Options for Charting Indicator Readings for Failures.
For information about using comparative analyses, see Comparing Indicators.

To View “Before” and “After” Indicator Readings

1.
2.
The Before reading box shows the last reading prior to the failure occurring.
The After reading box shows the most recent reading after the failure was resolved.
