Linking Numeric Indicator Readings

You can link two numeric indicators to show the relationship between their readings. A common application of linked readings is a pressure-flow rate graph. This topic explains how to create linked readings.

To Link Numeric Indicators

1.	Open the asset that has the first indicator. Select the Inspection Management view, Indicators tab.

2.	Double-click the numeric indicator to open the Indicator window.

3.	Make sure that editing is enabled.

4.	On the Properties view, select the Options tab and the Linked Readings tab.

5.	Select Readings of this indicator are linked to another indicator’s readings.

6.	Click the browse icon () and select the asset with the indicator to be linked. The asset information is displayed, and the Indicator list is populated.

7.	Select the indicator to be linked from the Indicator list.

8.	If necessary, change the required proximity value. This option sets the time proximity required for linked readings. You can specify the length of time within which the readings for the two indicators must have been collected in order for APM to include them in the chart.

9.	In the Target line list, select the style of target line to be shown on the chart of linked readings. The style specifies the co-ordinates and sequence of points on the line.

10.	Select the Graphics tab. Select a gauge type from the list.

11.	Enter a preview value. An example image of the gauge is displayed.

12.	When you are finished, save and close the indicator.

13.	Open the linked indicator and set the gauge appearance. You will now be able to view linked readings side-by-side and compare their gauges.

To View Linked Readings

1.	Open the indicator that has linked reading settings.

2.	Select the Readings view and Linked Readings tab. The Current tab shows the current reading. Click in the chart to view the linked readings in the right-hand panel.

3.	Select the History tab to view a chart of readings over time.
