Entering Prioritization Results

Once you have created the asset prioritization analysis and selected assets, you can begin analyzing the assets.

The basic steps to enter prioritization analysis results in APM are:

•	Open the analysis and the Worksheet view

•	Analyze each asset in the analysis by selecting failure consequences for each criterion

•	Either select the probability of failure or perform a probability assessment for each asset

•	Calculate scores for each asset

This topic explains these steps.

Note: If AWEIS is active for the site and an asset change request type has not been set, a banner appears at the top of the Properties and Worksheet views. Click Edit Setting to assign a type for priority updates. For more information, see Setting up Asset Change Request Types.

To Enter Prioritization Results

1.	From the Site window, select the Strategy Development view, Prioritization tab, and double-click the analysis. The Asset Analysis window appears, open to the Properties view, General tab.

2.	Make sure that editing is enabled.

3.	Select the Worksheet view. For example:

Tip: You can also select the Properties view, Assets tab. Double-click the asset that you wish to analyze. You can then enter scores in the Analysis Asset window.

Tip: You can click to hide the expanded Asset Information area. Click to show it again.

Tip: When returning to an analysis to complete it, you can select the “Analysis incomplete” configuration in the Worksheet view. The table lists the analysis assets for which criteria have not been analyzed.

4.	In the Analysis area, select a criterion in the Criteria table to populate the list of scores and examples.

5.	Drag an example from the bottom table to the criterion in the table above it. For example:

Tip: You can also select a row in the Criteria table and press F2. The row is open for editing. For example, select a consequence description:

Press Tab to select a consequence for the next criterion. When you are finished selecting values, press Enter to close the table to editing.

6.	For each of the remaining consequences, repeat steps 4 and 5.

7.	Select the relevant value from the Probability of failure list or select the Probability tab. For example:

8.	Select a criterion in the Criteria table to populate the list of examples and scores.

9.	Drag an example from the bottom table to the criterion in the table above it to add the score. You can also use F2 editing or double-click the criterion to open a dialog and select the detail.

10.	Repeat these steps for each of the criteria.

11.	Add your comments to the text box.

12.	Click Calculate Scores. The Probability of Failure, Consequence Priority, Total Consequences, and Relative Risk boxes are populated with values.

Consequence priority

The consequence priority number indicates the relative importance of an asset in the site. APM calculates the priority number by comparing the failure consequence scores to a set of rules. The higher the priority number, the greater the asset’s criticality.

Total consequences

The total of the scores for each of the consequences selected for the asset.

Relative risk

Relative risk is one of the outputs from the asset prioritization analysis. It is the product of the asset’s failure probability and the consequences of failure. Relative Risk = (Failure Probability) x Sum (Consequence of Failure Scores) The relative risk is generally used in ranking the assets in your organization to determine where to focus efforts in developing an asset reliability program.

13.	Click Risk Plot to view the Risk Plot window.

14.	To analyze the next asset in the analysis, click at the bottom of the tab.

Tip: You can also copy an analysis from one asset to another. In the Worksheet view, in the Asset identification area, click the View as Table icon (). The analysis’ assets are listed in a table. Right-click the asset and click Copy Analysis. The Copy Analysis dialog lists the other assets in the analysis. Select the target asset and click OK.

Once you have analyzed the assets, you can view the data in the Summary view. You can also apply the results to the assets and create projects and condition analyses.
