Renumbering Design FMECA Objects

Failure modes are automatically assigned sequential numbers when they are added to an analysis. They are uniquely identified by function, functional failure, and failure mode sequence numbers or letters. For example, this Maintenance Action Plan window shows that this is the fourth failure mode for function 2 and functional failure A:

Tip: You can see the function, functional failure, and failure mode sequence in several locations, for example Facilitation view, Decision Worksheet tab.

As the FMECA is developed, you might need to delete failure modes, leaving gaps in the sequence.

This topic explains how to quickly renumber failure modes, functions, functional failures, or a combination in an analysis.

To Renumber Analysis Objects

1.	From the site’s Strategy Development view, select the Design and Analyses tabs.

2.	Open the design FMECA.

3.	Click the Tools menu and then Renumber Objects. The Renumber Analysis Objects dialog appears. For example:

4.	By default, all objects are selected. You can adjust the settings as required.

5.	Click OK. Depending on the number of objects, a progress dialog might appear. The objects are renumbered.
