Activating and Suspending Purging Rules

Purging rules cannot be executed until they are activated. This restriction helps to ensure that the purging rule is not executed inadvertently before it has been properly defined and tested.

A purging rule must have at least one selection criterion before it can be activated. Once activated, the rule cannot be edited. If you wish to modify the rule, change its activation status to “Suspended”.

This topic explains how to activate and suspend a purging rule.

To Activate a Purging Rule

1.	Open the purging rule.

2.	On the General tab, click Activate.

3.	Click Yes in the confirmation dialog that appears. The rule’s activation status changes to Activated.

To Suspend a Purging Rule

1.	Open the activated purging rule.

2.	On the General tab, click Suspend.

3.	Click Yes in the confirmation dialog that appears. The rule’s action status changed to “Suspended”.
