Creating a Preventive Maintenance Route

A preventive maintenance (PM) route is a type of standard job that consists of a series of similar standard tasks performed on a number of similar assets. For example, you might create a PM route to perform vibration analysis on a number of assets.

You can create a work order from the PM route whenever you need to perform it. You can also link triggering rules to the PM route so that APM will create a work order when necessary.

To Create a PM Route

1.	From the site, select the Tools menu, New, Reliability Program, and then PM Route. The Standard job window appears, open to the General tab.

2.	If necessary, you can change the route number.

Note: PM routes, standard jobs, and job templates share a numbering system and must have unique identifying numbers. A PM route cannot have the same number as a standard job or a job template.

3.	Enter a title that describes the work.

4.	On the Details tab, select a planner from the list.

5.	Select a work type from the list. The work type can control formatting, approval, and activity reporting settings for the route and the work orders created from the route.

6.	Select the work classification, if required.

7.	You can add a detailed description of the route on the Description tab.

8.	Now that you have created the PM route, you can:

•	Add standard tasks to the route (see Adding Standard Tasks to a Standard Job or a PM Route)

•	Add triggering rules to the route (see Creating Triggering Rules for a Standard Job or PM Route)

•	Set up triggering cycles for the standard tasks (see Triggering a Subset of Standard Tasks on a Standard Job or PM Route)

•	Set the work order options and rules (see Setting Options and Work Order Rules for a Standard Job)

9.	When you are finished, save and close the PM route.
