Creating Schedules from a Template

When you need to schedule work order tasks for a period of time, you will need to create a new schedule or a new set of schedules. Schedule templates simplify this process.
When you create schedules from templates, APM sets the starting date based on the information on the General tab, Details tab, in the schedule template properties. For example, if the schedule template has a starting day of Sunday, the starting date for the schedule will be the next Sunday that doesn’t yet have a schedule. If the starting date is the same as the current day of the week, APM sets today's date as the starting date. If necessary, you can change the starting date of the schedule.
If a template has an Offset Start Date value, APM will also use this information to calculate the starting date of the schedule.
Note: In order for the offset date to be used, the schedule set must be created from the parent schedule and not the schedules using the offset. For example, create the schedule set from the monthly template, not from each weekly template.
You can also create multiple future schedules from a schedule template or a set of templates. For example, if you have a weekly schedule template, you could create the four weekly schedules for the following month.
Note: The My Desk view only displays the tabs described below, if you are set up as a scheduler on the Properties view, Roles tab, Scheduling tab of the employee record.

To Create Schedules from a Template

1.
From the Site window, select the Work Management view and then the Schedules tab.
Tip: If your employee record is assigned the Scheduler role, you can also view your schedules and templates via the My Desk view, Scheduler tab.
2.
Select the Templates tab. By default, this tab displays schedule templates for the site. For example:
R
3.
Right-click the template that you want to use, and select Create Next Schedule. To create a set of schedule templates, right-click the template at the top of the set (for example, right-click on the weekly template for a set of weekly and daily templates). The Create Next Schedules dialog appears.
4.
5.
6.
Click OK. APM creates a new schedule based on the template. If the template has child schedule templates (such as daily schedules on a weekly template) and the Build child schedules option was selected on the template, APM also creates child schedules from the child templates. APM will only open the first schedule.
7.
Set or change the schedule properties (see Setting Schedule Properties). APM will set the schedule properties to the properties that were selected on the templates. If necessary, you can change these properties on any of the new schedules.
