Copying a Standard Task

If you want to create a standard task that is similar to an existing standard task, you can make a copy.

If you need to create the same standard task for many similar assets, you might want to create a task template. This will make creating and maintaining your standard tasks easier. See Creating a Task Template.

To Copy a Standard Task

1.	Open the Standard Task window.

2.	From the Standard Task menu, select Create, and then Copy. The Copy Task dialog appears.

3.	Click the browse icon (). In the Asset selector dialog, select an asset and click OK.

Note: If the selected asset is an installed component, you can switch to the component location by selecting the Location option. If the selected asset is a component location, you can switch to the installed component by selecting the Component option.

4.	Click OK. APM creates a standard task with the same information as the original, except for the asset that you selected. If the original standard task was based on a task template, the copy is also linked to that template.

5.	Make any necessary changes to the new standard task. If the standard task is linked to a task template and you need to edit it, see Editing a Standard Task that is Based on a Template.

6.	Save and close the standard task.
