Enabling and Disabling Construction of Hierarchy Locations

The asset’s hierarchy location identifies where the asset is in the physical hierarchy. The hierarchy location is automatically constructed by APM based on the hierarchy code that you enter for each asset.
If you will be making a lot of changes to assets and hierarchies, you might want to temporarily turn off the automatic updating of asset hierarchy locations to improve system performance while you are working. When you are finished making changes, turn the hierarchy location construction feature back on. APM updates the hierarchy locations of all assets.
Note: This process might take some time to complete.
To enter or edit asset hierarchy codes, see Entering Hierarchy Codes for Assets.
