Changing or Assigning the Parent Asset for Multiple Assets

You can assign a parent asset to multiple assets simultaneously. This feature is useful if you need to change the parent asset or assign a parent asset to more than one asset at a time.

This topic describes how to change and assign a parent asset to multiple assets at the same time.

To Change or Assign the Parent Asset for Multiple Assets

1.	From the Site window, select the Assets view and then the Listing tab.

Tip: You can filter the list of assets to display assets with blank parent assets in order to assign a parent to assets that do not yet have a parent.

2.	Select each of the assets that you want to change or assign to a parent asset, then right-click and click Change Parent Asset. The Assign or Change Asset Parent dialog appears, for example:

3.	Click the browse icon to select the new parent to assign to the selected assets. The Asset Selector dialog appears.

4.	Select the parent asset from the Asset Hierarchy or the Asset Listing list and click OK.

Note: An error message appears if an asset could not be assigned to the selected parent, for example, if the assets do not belong to the same site, or because the assets are components. For example:

5.	Select each of the hierarchies that this change or assignment affects.

6.	When you are finished, click OK. The selected assets are updated.
