Creating a Request for Work from a Checksheet

A request for work identifies the tasks to be performed as a result of an asset inspection or report of a failure. Requests for work are created in APM and submitted to the external CMMS using interoperability services. When the CMMS is SAP, a notification or maintenance order is created or updated.
Once a request for work is submitted, its interop status is updated to “Ready to Send” and the request becomes read-only in APM. After the request is accepted, either an interop work request or an interop work order is added to, or updated in, APM with a link to the originating request for work and checksheet.
There are several ways to create requests for work. This topic explains how to create one or more requests for work from an indicator checksheet in APM or APM Remote. To view a checksheet’s requests for work, select the Readings view and the Requests for Work tab.
Several properties are copied from the checksheet to the request, for example, the checksheet’s route asset, the interop work document’s asset, the checksheet’s planned start and completion dates, and work document information from the checksheet’s source solution package.
The request for work maintains a link to its source checksheet, and when the resulting interop work request or work order is created, it has a link to the checksheet.
Note: The checksheet status determines whether a request for work can be created for the current checksheet.
This topic explains how to start a request for work from an indicator checksheet. For comprehensive information about creating requests for work, see Creating a Request for Work from Scratch.
Requests for work can also be generated automatically from checksheets on a regular basis. To do this, set up the Generate Checksheet Requests for Work scheduled action. The triggering horizon is set in the Site Interoperability Profile. For more information, see Creating a Scheduled Action and Setting up Site Interoperability Profiles for AWEIS.
