Failure Mode
A failure mode is an event that causes an asset to fail to perform its function. For example, if a pump’s impeller becomes worn, the pump cannot convey liquid at the required rate.
When failure mode optimization requires Isograph Availability Workbench, this attribute is mapped to the cause description in AWB.

Intermediate Effects
When extended failure effect statements are supported on an analysis, you can enter four separate effect statements for each failure mode:
•
Local effect on the piece of equipment
•
Intermediate effect on a higher level equipment or asset
•
End effect on the asset or system being analyzed
•
Worst-case effects
