Status
Safety statuses are user-defined settings that determine the events and rules that apply to safety objects. Statuses can be applied manually or automatically based on safety type and system event.

Level
The provision level indicates the provision’s role: it can be the primary, secondary, demand-reducing, or supporting. Secondary and supporting provisions work in conjunction with a primary provision. A demand-reducing provision is put in place to reduce the demand placed on the asset, for example, by reducing flow or pressure. Demand-reducing provisions can also have supporting and secondary provisions.

Safety integrity level
The design team assigns a safety integrity level (SIL) to each safety provision. This numeric value, usually on an ascending scale between 0 and 4, is a measure of the amount of risk inherent in the failure that the provision prevents or mitigates. The provision’s SIL is used in SIF analyses to calculate the impact of a possible failure.
