Provision The number and title of the safety provision that owns the version. See Also Type Safety types are user-defined settings that control the status, approval options, and appearance of the objects to which they are applied. See Also Status Safety statuses are user-defined settings that determine the events and rules that apply to safety objects. Statuses can be applied manually or automatically based on safety type and system event. See Also Level The provision level indicates the provision’s role: it can be the primary, secondary, demand-reducing, or supporting. Secondary and supporting provisions work in conjunction with a primary provision. A demand-reducing provision is put in place to reduce the demand placed on the asset, for example, by reducing flow or pressure. Demand-reducing provisions can also have supporting and secondary provisions. See Also Asset Asset to which the provision applies, usually a system. See Also Version Number that APM automatically assigned to the version. See Also Title The name or short description of this item. You can enter up to 250 characters. Change Set Change authorization or change set number from a Management of Change (MOC) system. Provides a simple link between the change in APM and the request in the MOC system. See Also P&ID Piping and instrumentation diagram associated with the provision. In APM, P&IDs are included with standard documents and can be added to assets and safety provisions for reference. See Also Status Safety statuses are user-defined settings that determine the events and rules that apply to safety objects. Statuses can be applied manually or automatically based on safety type and system event. See Also Comment Comment provided for a status change. Safety integrity level The design team assigns a safety integrity level (SIL) to each safety provision. This numeric value, usually on an ascending scale between 0 and 4, is a measure of the amount of risk inherent in the failure that the provision prevents or mitigates. The provision’s SIL is used in SIF analyses to calculate the impact of a possible failure. See Also Explanation Explanation, argument, or evidence that supports the choice of safety integrity level. See Also Safety impact Safety impact values identify the extent of the hazard, for example, “Extensive, widespread”. See Also Legacy reference number Number or title of an external document provided for informational purposes. Action Description of the actions to be performed to prevent or mitigate a hazard. See Also Description The description of the item. You can use this box to include any additional details.
