See Also Site holding area asset The asset in the physical hierarchy that acts as the parent of spare component assets. Selecting the spares parent enables you to view the component assets that are not currently installed in any location from the physical hierarchy. The holding area asset must be an asset group. When a component is removed from a location or transferred to the site, it is automatically included under the spares parent. Note: You can set up multiple holding area assets by setting default holding area assets on lower-levels assets in the physical hierarchy. See Also Title The name or short description of this item. You can enter up to 250 characters. Type Asset types are groups of settings that define the characteristics of your organization’s assets. For example, you might create asset types called “pumps” or “piping and valves.” The asset type contains basic information, policies, and permissions, such as whether or not standard jobs can be created for assets of the type. When you create an asset in APM, you must specify an asset type, which then determines the information and functionality available for the asset.
