Select this option if the status will be used for component and component location assets. You may want to have separate asset statuses for components and component locations if you need to rebuild component assets and track asset life statistics.

Operational status

Select whether or not the asset or site is in operation or not when it has this status: • In service: the asset or site is currently being used. • Out of service: the asset or site is not currently in use. For example, an asset might out of service when it has failed, or a site might not be in operation when it is still being defined (data entry status). If you select this option, you can also select The asset is available for use (typically used for components and locations).

Available for Use

This option indicates whether or not assets with this status are available for use. When you install a component into a component location, APM will check the current status of the component to make sure that it is “available for use”. If a component is not “available for use”, it cannot be installed.
