Site	The site to which the purging rule applies. Normally, purging rules are applied across the enterprise (that is, to the top site and all those below it), but you can create purging rules that apply to a single site, if you wish.

Specifies whether the rule applies to the selected site alone or to the site and all those below it.

Activation status

Activation status can be either “Activated” or “Suspended”. When a purging rule is created, its status is automatically set to “Suspended” to prevent the rule from being run inadvertently before it is complete or tested. After you have defined a rule and previewed it, you must manually activate it before it can be executed. At any time, you can change an activated rule’s status to “Suspended”.

Trigger method

The purging rule’s execution can be triggered in one of the following ways: • Manually: The activated rule can only be executed by clicking Purge Now from this tab or the Data Purging view. • Automatically based on a recurrence pattern: The activated purging rule is triggered automatically based on the options selected in the Recurrence pattern area.

Stop purging after

The maximum length of time for which the purging rule runs. For example, you might want the purge to run for an hour and then stop. Any objects that meet the selection criteria but are not purged within the allotted time are reselected and purged the next time the purging rule is executed.

If you are grouping criteria to use AND/OR logic, select the and/or behavior for the groups: • AND within a group, OR between groups: filter criteria within the same group are evaluated with AND; criteria in different groups are evaluated with OR. For example, if A and B are different groups: (A>3 AND A<7) OR (B>7 AND B<10) • OR within a group, AND between groups: filter criteria within the same group are evaluated with OR; criteria in different groups are evaluated with AND. For example, if A and B are different groups: (A=3 OR A=7) AND (B=7 OR B=10)
