Correction Type

The type of hierarchy error that needs to be fixed: component swap not recorded or wrong component was recorded. When a component installation is not recorded, a component was physically removed and its replacement was installed but the swap was not recorded in APM. As a result, data collected and activities performed against the installed component continue to be recorded against the component that was previously installed. When the wrong component is recorded in APM, the wrong component was recorded as having been installed at a location. Data collected and activities performed against the installed component are recorded against the component that was incorrectly identified as having been installed.

Correction Status

The status of the hierarchy correction. APM determines the status automatically. There are five options: New correction: The hierarchy correction transaction has been created. Correction type and assets entered: The type of error and the assets involved have been selected. Assets matched: APM has matched the assets involved in the correction. Details retrieved: The user has pressed the Continue button and APM has determined the work orders, indicators, and other documents affected by the correction. Processed: The correction has been processed; APM has entered the hierarchy correction changes.

Status

Asset status represents the operational state of an asset and whether or not it is available for use. APM uses the status of an asset to determine whether or not work is triggered and whether or not components are available for installation. Sites can also use statuses, but these statuses are specific to sites and cannot be used for assets. Status is particularly important for components because it reflects a component’s repair and availability status. For example, when a component is out of service, the status can also indicate whether the component is a spare and available for use, is in the shop for repair, is out for vendor repair, or has been scrapped. When you change the status of a parent asset, the statuses of its children are also changed (provided the previous statuses of the assets were the same).

Hierarchy location

A hierarchy location is a string of letters and numbers that identifies where the asset is in the physical hierarchy. APM constructs a full hierarchy location using the code that you enter in the Hierarchy code box joined with the hierarchy codes for its parent/ancestors. The codes are separated by a period (.). Hierarchy locations are updated whenever the asset or one of its ancestors is moved within the hierarchy (or if a hierarchy code changes).

Effective Date

New Status

The new status for the inventory unit linked to this asset. If this asset is also a resource kept in inventory, select the new status for that inventory unit from the list.

Asset Status

The status that the asset or site is changed to. If you are changing the status, select an appropriate status from the list. An assets status is shared by its child assets. If you change the status of an asset, the status of every child asset will also be changed. If any of the child assets are component locations, their installed components will have the same status. Note that changing the status of the site will not affect the status of the assets on that site. A change in asset or site status may affect the triggering of work orders from some standard tasks.

New asset life

When you change the status of a maintainable or component asset, you can also tell APM to start a new life for the asset. For example, you might do this if you are removing a component so that it can be rebuilt. By starting a new life, APM can track asset indicator readings and costs after the rebuild separately from before the rebuild.

Restarts all counters for triggering the component’s preventive maintenance jobs

Select this option to have APM restart the time and indicator counters that are used for triggering preventive maintenance jobs for the component asset. The indicators on this asset might be used in triggering rules for standard jobs on this asset or on a different asset. If indicators on this asset are used in triggering rules for other assets, the counters for those triggering rules will also be reset.
